Since taking over the Exzelsior roastery in Klagenfurt in autumn 2021, Naber Kaffeemanufaktur has invested more than 100,000 euros in the modernization of the oldest large roastery in Carinthia.

Part of the investment went into the newly designed shop with a showroom, two additional employees and the expansion of production capacity. Thanks to the latter, Naber has been able to triple the sales volume at the site, according to its own statement. The roastery focuses on private label roasts, an important source of income for the company. Next year, Naber wants to increase its production in Klagenfurt by 20 percent to 850,000 kilograms of processed green coffee.

VIENNA / KLAGENFURT. In September 2021, Wiener Kaffee Manufaktur Naber announced the takeover of the coffee roasting company Exzelsior – a groundbreaking step for Naber: On the one hand, the acquisition meant an increase in production capacity from 500 t to 2,000 t, on the other hand the starting signal for a service offensive in southern Austria.

As early as 2021, Naber Kaffee from Vienna took over Carinthia’s oldest large roastery Exzelsior. 200,000 euros were invested purely in the adaptation of the location. Sparkling wines have also been sold since May.

The traditional Viennese coffee roastery Naber expanded to Klagenfurt in 2021. Founded in 1908 by Georg Naber, the company has been majority owned by “café+co International Holding” since 2015 – a distributor of self-service machines for hot drinks. Together with the 4000 square meter site in Schwendnergasse, Naber processes 1400 tons of green coffee per year.

With the takeover of the Klagenfurt roastery Exzelsior in autumn 2021, Naber Kaffee Manufaktur started a service offensive in southern Austria. To date, more than 100,000 euros have been invested in making the oldest large roasting plant in Carinthia sustainable for the future. Sustainable investments and the introduction of the sparkling wine office mean that the company is clearly on a growth course. A shop with a showroom, two additional employees and the expansion of production capacity ensured that the sales volume at the location tripled.

The production of high-quality private label roasts is a driving force behind this success. Varieties are roasted, which are then marketed by the customers under their own names. At the same time, Naber deepens its roots in the region by looking after a large number of customers from the upscale Carinthian gastronomy and the targeted expansion of its customer relationships in Styria and East Tyrol. Next year, Naber wants to increase its production in Klagenfurt by 20 percent to 850,000 kilograms of processed green coffee.

In addition to high-quality private label roasts, Naber also offers extensive offers for regional gastronomy.

The traditional Naber company was founded in 1908 by Georg Naber and has been majority-owned by “cafe+co” since 2015. In addition to its historical location in Vienna’s 21st district, Wiener Kaffee Manufaktur Naber last year took over the traditional Carinthian roastery “Exzelsior”.

Naber takes over the traditional Carinthian roastery

    13.09.2021

With the “Exzelsior” roastery, the traditional Viennese roastery Naber has multiplied its production capacities for quality coffee roasted in Austria

With the takeover of the “Exzelsior” roastery in Klagenfurt, the Viennese coffee manufacturer Naber has taken a significant step towards expanding and maintaining the Austrian roasting tradition. While the historic, existing Naber location will remain in Vienna’s 21st district, the “Exzelsior” production will continue in Klagenfurt in the future and there will be an expansion of high-quality private label roasts. The high production capacity of the Carinthian roastery is particularly important here. While 500 tons of green coffee were roasted at Naber in Vienna each year, this volume can be quadrupled to up to 2,000 tons with the new investment. With this capacity, Naber will not only serve existing gastronomy customers in the Carinthian region in the future, but will also promote the production of exclusive own brands at the same time.

In the Ottakringer brewery, the “Art of Cart Formula Gastronomy 2.0” was put on the gas pedal.

    14.06.2021

250 invited entrepreneurs from gastronomy, the food industry and celebrities from business, TV and sport swapped business suits for racing overalls at the “Art of Cart Formula Gastronomy 2.0” in Vienna’s Ottakringer brewery on Saturday and faced the electrically powered competition.

Under the currently valid Corona regulations, the location offered not only first-class brewing art but also an unforgettable podium for networking and getting started. Conclusion: Team spirit and leadership qualities are maneuvering people and companies into the fast lane, especially now. “The market has already suffered enough from the shutdowns. Whether tested, vaccinated or recovered: we look to the future with confidence and shape the upswing together,” said organizer Peter Saliger

The name and the red logo belong to Vienna. And in the outlets that still exist, you can see that Naber Kaffee also had the nicest branches. In recent years, Marco Salvatori has given the traditional brand, founded in 1908, an infusion of Italian espresso vibrancy. Together with Gerald Matzner, they ensure that modern roasts in a retro guise come from Strebersdorf today. And the duo is not limited to large catering packs. The “Kaiser-Melange” even has Viennese flavors ready for the capsule machine.
